Church Biblical Beliefs
Bethany
First Baptist Church is an independent fundamentalist Baptist Church,
that believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
Our
basic tenets of faith are printed below for your knowledge and edification.
WE
believe:
- That
God is a Triune Spirit; that is, He is the Trinity, Three-In-One:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (1 John
5:7, St. John 4:24, St. John 14: 7-11)
- Salvation
for our soul is provided by God's grace. Grace is un-merited favor
with God. It is completely opposite from merit or works. (Ephesians
2: 8-10).
- For
one to be saved, confession must be made with the mouth and repentance
and belief must be established in the heart. Our belief must be
in Christ Jesus as the Son of God and the only sacrifice acceptable
for our atonement before God. (Romans 10:9-11:4; and Titus 2:14).
- There
are two ordinances (laws) of the New Testament church, Baptism
and the Lord's Supper. (Matthew 28: 19-20; Romans 6: 1-10; Matthew
26:26; and 1 Corinthians 11:24).
- Speaking
in tongues, whilea valid gift of the Holy Spirit, is not a prerequisite
for salvation in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians Chapter 14).
- Every
Saint should know "Spiritual CPR". That is, you should
know how to lead a sinner to Christ. Our primary mission is to
be witnesses of the risen Christ and His power in the lives of
ordinary people. You should therefore commit to memory the "Romans
Road to Salvation" that you may lead a friend, loved one,
or stranger to eternal life in Christ Jesus. Memorize: (Romans
3:23, 5:8; 6:23; 10: 9-10). Fruther, for those who say "God
cannot forgive what I have done", see 1 John 1:9.
- Tithing,
the act of giving the first tenth of our earnings unto the Lord,
is as much an act of worship as prayer and supplication unto God.
We believe that any Saint of God can should tithe. It does not
matter if you are young or old, rich or poor. Saints who learn
to tithe become spiritually mature believers. They have learned
to trust God by faith and grow in their reliance on Him to deliver
them from any circumstance. (Mark 12: 41-44; Malachi 3: 6-10;
1 Corinthians 16: 1-2; and II Corinthians 9: 6-8).
You
can't take your money with you, but you can send it on ahead

6:19,20
